Common questions
Prime Technologies is now part of TMA Systems. Who supports ProCal v5?
TMA Systems announced its acquisition of Prime Technologies in January 2023. The ProCal pages now sit on tmasystems.com and the old primetechpa.com address redirects there. The support portal links on those pages still point to a Prime-branded help center. So the marketing sits under one brand and the documentation under the other. That is normal after an acquisition and it is not a reason to move by itself. It is still worth a phone call. Ask TMA Systems to confirm who supports you now and what your license covers.
We are audited on our calibration records. What does Axiospec actually store?
Every calibration writes to a tamper-evident hash-chained audit trail with e-signatures. Records tailor to the standard your workspace selects. That is tailoring and not a compliance guarantee. All four AIAG MSA studies run in the app alongside per-instrument uncertainty budgets and TUR. To be fair to ProCal the feature page describes a pre-validated 21 CFR Part 11 package and audit trails with timestamps and electronic signatures. If your quality system was written around that package then a move is a validation project and not a data migration. Price that work before you price the software.
Is there a reason to keep ProCal v5?
Yes. Two of them. DeviceSync downloads tasks to documenting calibrators and uploads the results back. The pricing comparison table names specific Fluke models including the 743b, the 754 and the 729 Pro. Axiospec does not drive calibrators. If that loop is why you bought ProCal then keep it. The second reason is the test packages. The feature page lists over 30 pre-engineered Precision Test Packages for awkward items like pipettes, balances and safety valves. Rebuilding that library is real work. Some teams keep ProCal at the bench and manage the register somewhere else. That is a legitimate answer and we would rather you hear it here.
Our technicians work from a Mobile Workstation. What changes?
The shape of the work changes. The product documentation describes the Mobile Workstation as a second PC running the client with its own database. It syncs back to the central database when it reconnects. In Axiospec the technician uses a phone. There are native iOS and Android apps on every plan including the free one and full browser access alongside them. The technician scans a QR code and logs a reading by voice. Labels print from the same record. Weigh the offline part honestly. If your work happens in cleanrooms or plants with no signal then that documented offline sync is a real strength. Ask TMA Systems what the current offline options are.
How do we get our records out of ProCal v5?
One thing to check first. The Export and Import commands documented for ProCal v5 cover the Mobile Workstation sync between ProCal v5 databases. Ask TMA Systems which route gives you a full history file for a move to another system. Send us whatever file you get. We work from that export file and we do not go inside your ProCal system. Our import wizard maps your columns and validates every row. Each batch imports the rows that pass and lists the rest by file line and reason. A registry load lands as one batch an admin can undo from the dashboard. History imports as real per-event records, not notes. White-glove migration is free on every plan including the free one.
ProCal v5 has no published price. How do the numbers compare?
TMA Systems does not publish a price for ProCal v5. The plan card reads Contact us for pricing. Its cloud plan ProCal Direct lists a starting price of $179 a month. The footnote on that page says per user and billed annually. Those are different shapes of product. Ask TMA Systems for a quote on the plan you actually want. One point for them. The ProCal v5 card lists concurrent user licensing on top of everything in ProCal Direct. A shop with many occasional technicians can land cheaper on concurrent licensing than on named seats. ProCal eView also gives read access to schedules and reports without a full seat. Our prices are on the site. Axiospec is $0 for up to 50 active assets on the free plan with the full platform. What the migration actually involves
You produce whatever export your current system can give you. We map the columns, you review the mapping, then we load it. Every row is validated before anything saves. Each batch imports the rows that pass and lists the rest by file line and reason, so a bad row never blocks the rest of the file. A registry load lands as one batch an admin can undo. Certificate PDFs and scanned attachments come across too. Those are the part that most often needs a conversation, so raise them early. The work runs over email and does not tie up your calendar. It is free on every plan, including the free plan. Keep your existing system running until you have signed off on the loaded data.
How you would leave us
Export your data yourself, at any time, on any plan including the free one. That covers the asset register, the calibration history as per-event records, and the certificate files. There is no exit fee. You are reading this page because you are leaving a system you already bought, so ask us this question the same way you are asking it of them. Ask it before you migrate rather than after.
